DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the general guidance of the Chief, Development
Information Services Division, the incumbent assists in the formulation and implementation
of ECA=s programme on Development Information with main emphasis on
geographic information systems and other related spatial information technology
application such as remote sensing; provides technical support to the incorporation of
socio-economic data in GIS database structure to facilitate better analysis and
presentation; assists in planning, organizing and servicing conferences, seminars,
training workshops; participates in providing technical expert services to member States,
sub regional and regional institutions in order to enhance the effective use of
geoinformation technologies for sustainable development.
EDUCATION:
Advanced degree (M.Sc. or M.A.)Engineering,
Environmental and Earth Sciences, specialized in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information
Systems combined with Computer Science. A candidate with a Bachelor=s
degree backed by ample experience may be considered for selection.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
The candidate should have a thorough
experience in formulating policies and in the design and implementation of spatially
referenced geographic information in infrastructure.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Experience in the manipulation of related
datasets and information via electronic networks.
