Responsibilities |
| Under the general supervision of the Chief of the General Services Section, and within
delegated authority, the Administrative Officer will be responsible for the following
duties: plan, manage, develop and oversee all activities of property and supply management
at ECA as they relate to receiving, inspection, database maintenance, movement, storage,
issuance, disposal, accounting and reporting. Develop and implement procedures to ensure
that controls for property and supply management, accounting and reporting are operational
and consistent with UN policy and practice. Review furniture and equipment adequacy and
requirements at ECA and set standards for acquisitions, replacements and disposal. Oversee
work related to the cafeterias, fuel station operations and maintenance of related
equipment. Oversee periodic physical inventory and prepare related reports. Prepare
disposal submissions to the Local Property Survey Board (LPSB) and serve as its ex-officio
member by following up and implementing the Board's recommendations. Supervise and provide
guidance and leadership to more junior staff. Perform other related work as required. |

QUALIFICATIONS
|
Education |
| First level degree, preferably in business administration, finance, law or other
relevant discipline is required and an advanced degree preferred. Additional study or
training in Stores/Material Management, Procurement or Accounting preferred. |

| Work Experience |
| At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in general administration,
accounting, or procurement. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant UN
administrative, financial and accounting policies/procedures/regulations are an advantage. |
|
| Languages |
| Fluency in oral and written English or French is required and working knowledge of the
other is highly desirable. |
|
| Other Desirable Skills |
Proven conceptual, analytical, and evaluative skills. Ability to conduct independent
research and analysis, identify issues, formulate options and make recommendations. Solid
computer skills, including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, IMIS, and
relevant administrative software packages. Proven ability to write in a clear and concise
manner and to communicate effectively orally. Ability to prepare reports, formulate
positions on issues, articulate options concisely, conveying maximum necessary
information, and make and defend recommendations.

opening a "My UN" account. Go to Login, and Register as a User. Fill in the form
and choose a User Name and Password.
- After opening the account, applicants may apply for vacancies using the Personal History
Profile (PHP) provided. Once the PHP has been completed for a particular vacancy, it can
be saved and used for future applications. The PHP may be modified as necessary for future
applications.
- In completing the PHP, please note that all fields marked with an asterisk must be
completed.
- For UN staff members, after submission of an application, they will receive an email
reminding them to provide copies of their last two Performance Appraisal System
evaluations to the appropriate office. These copies may be submitted by email, fax or
regular mail with a clear indication of the vacancy announcement number.
- Once an application has been submitted, it will be transmitted to the appropriate office
for review.
