AGDI GenderNet, Issue 5, 2007
This edition of Gender Net examines this particular issue and tries to take stock of the present situation, with reference to women's access to land, natural resources and capital.

The newsletter sets the tone by analyzing women’s economic rights as stated in various international instruments. It also examines the effectiveness of enforcement of laws affecting their right to land by giving some country examples. The bulletin also focuses on some of the challenges to women’s access to land due to the transition from traditional communal ownership of land and natural resources to the individual ownership-based land tenure.

Addis Ababa, 15 November 2007- About 20 experts from nine African countries will on Monday in Addis Ababa begin a two-day review of a report on the needs of older people in Africa produced by the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and titled “Aging in a society for all ages in Africa”.
