ADF ’99 – MEETINGS SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY OCTOBER 24

Chairs, speakers, panelists and rapporteurs 13.30 to 15.00

The Conference will only achieve its targeted outputs with the full cooperation of chairs, speakers,

panelists, rapporteurs – and participants.

We ask all those inscribed on the programme or who have accepted rapporteurial duties to attend a briefing meeting at 13.30 in CR2 at the UN Conference Centre.

Focus Groups 15.30 to 17.30

Five focus groups will be constituted during ADF ’99 to monitor the proceedings from the points of view of: women, youth, the private sector, the diaspora and African think tanks. The focus groups will report back to plenary on Wednesday morning at the mid-point of ADF ’99. Their recommendations will be integrated into the final report adopted during the Way Forward session on Thursday afternoon.

All groups will meet from 15.30 to 17.30 on Sunday October 24 in the following rooms at the UN Conference Centre:

CR 3 Gender

CR 4 Youth

CR 5 Private Sector

CR 6 Diaspora

SBR Think tanks

The meetings will enable the groups to organise their work for the duration of ADF ’99 and assign responsibilities for monitoring particular issues and for the preparation of reports.

Some of the groups will have particular responsibilities. The private sector group, for example, will organise the private sector panel to respond to the presentations on national information and communications infrastructure scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. The diaspora group will attempt to plan a future diaspora network.

While work has been underway for some time to coordinate the groups they are open to all ADF participants.

If you have a particular interest in one of the groups please attend the meeting and find out more about how you can be involved.
