Research and Training Support

To provide research and training support to the PRS process in Africa through

•  demand-driven policy relevant research on PRS-related issues (to be undertaken by PRSP research fellows, who will be placed in ECA for six months to one year), and

•  provision of training to practitioners on specific technical and policy issues related to PRS design and implementation.

The specific outputs of the Research Fellows will be assessed on the basis of policy application, relevance to understanding the links between poverty reduction, the Millennium Development Goals, and growth, and the five core thematic areas of focus of the PRSP-LG:

•  comprehensiveness of growth strategies,

•  public finance related issues,

•  the legitimacy of the participatory process,

•  capacity considerations,

•  and the alignment of donor policies and practices.
