The Information for Development Program (infoDev):
The infoDev began in September 1995 with the objective of addressing the obstacles facing developing countries in an increasingly information-driven world economy. It is a global grant program managed by the World Bank to promote innovative projects on the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) for economic and social development, with a special emphasis on the needs of the poor in developing countries.
International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD):
The International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD) assists developing countries to realise locally owned sustainable development by harnessing the potential of information and communication technologies (ICTs). IICD works with its partner organisations in selected countries, helping local stakeholders to assess the potential uses of ICTs in development. IICD also aims to strengthen the capacities of its local partners to formulate, implement and manage development policies and projects that make use of ICTs. IICD is an independent non-profit foundation, established by the Netherlands Minister for Development Cooperation in 1997. Its sources of core funding are the Directorate-General for Development Cooperation (DGIS), the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC).
