takawira.jpg (4250 bytes) "I am very humbled to be one of the receipents of the awards.I feel the award, although it comes in my name is victory for Zimbabwean journalism and the country as a whole. I hope my winning will inspire fellow journalist in my country to report on ICT and better our country".
Takawira Musara,
‘Dialling for Africa’, Zimbabwe
"The honour done us with the First Prize Award of IDRC
on Reporting on ICT Research and Innovation will
definitely inspire us to work harder in order to help
bring the knowledge of the benefits of ICTs to the
greatest numbers of our peoples, first in Nigeria
which is our primary audience, and then to other parts
of Africa.

The Award will spur us to work in a much more focused
direction, realising that ICT holds the key to the
development of our continent. And as we have always
made it clear to our readers and the public:
tomorrow's economy, is the knowledged-based economy.
And indeed, permit me to add that with this award, our
work has only just started, and we shall not relent".
Mkpe Abang, IT & Telecom Digest, Nigeria

"Cette distinction ainsi que l’éclat de la cérémonie de remise des prix me comblent de joie. C’est une
motivation supplémentaire qui m’interpelle ainsi
que tous les journalistes africains à nous engager
davantage dans la recherche et la diffusion des
initiatives africaines sur les TICs, et dans la
conscientisation des populations sur les enjeux
de la société de l’information. L’engouement créé
autour de ce prix est un signe que nous allons
relever le défi."

Etienne Tasse, Cameroun

"It makes me very proud because in my life the Award will be the first Award i will be getting at African level. I encourge my fellow Journalist to engage in educating and informing the public on the use of ICTs for development".
The AISI Media Award honoured to me provides an opportunity for women journalists to develop new skills and knowledge about the use of ICTs and to apply these to the task of reporting more effectively about development of ICTs in Africa. ICT research and publishing skills need to be supported and expanded in order to promote access to dissemination of information. In Africa there is also need for journalists to explore ways in which they can have access to ICTs.

I therefore lobby relevant official actors to support e- publications, columns and programs on ICTs in both print and electronic media.
