National Information and Communication Strategies





The NICI plan development process of Burkina Faso commenced in 1999. In October 2000, Burkina Faso's Council of Ministers approved a National Information and Communication Infrastructure (NICI) development plan – “Plan de développement de l’infrastructure nationale d’information de communication du Burkina Faso: 2000 – 2004.” This was following a national workshop to validate the plan. Civil society organizations, private sector companies and academia participated in the NICI plan development process. The plan addressed, among others: computerization of the state/administration reinforcement of the national capacities and the quality of training and research improvement of the economic potentials development of community communication centers infrastructure development An ICT Policy implementation plan for the period 2004-2006 was elaborated in August 2003 and adopted by the Council of Ministers in October 2004..
