This document
has been prepared by ECA with assistance from IDRC and UNESCO for the African Development Forum
held in October 24-28, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The document is the
first attempt to collect and disseminate information on the ICT sector for the 53
countries of the African region. Thus, the document is to be regarded as a draft againts
which efforts are continuing to refine and update the information contained in this first
compilation. None of the statements referring to member States are to be regarded
as the position of the Economic Commission for Africa. The maps are included only
for the convenience of the reader and have no political significance.
