Internet has been introduced in Morocco in November 1995. The national telecom, Itissalat Al Maghrib (IAM), provides the international Internet hub for a large ISP sector. The international link has been upgraded from 8 Mbps to 13 Mbps and it runs to the US, Italy and France. There are currently 75 Internet Service Providers (ISPs) located in Casablanca, Rabat and Tangier, with others in Tetouan, Fes, Meknes, Marrakech, Oujda and Agadir.

IAM assumes the top level administrarion of .ma. The Morocco Internet Society Chapter is the first one to be established in the continent. With an active programme of events, its large membership is probably the most representative of the public sector networking in the country. Out of the 75 ISPs, the major ones include the following:
