Besides SOTELMA, four private Internet Service Providers are operating in Mali: Bintta SA/MaliNet, Cefib, Datatech and Spider.

The ISP Spider opened a cybercafe in Bamako. The cybercafe is run by two permanent staff. It  provides Internet services (to students at half price),  and the staff organizes training programme on Internet and Intranet.

Internet fees at Bintta (where US$ 1.00 = F CFA 632.61 as of June 1999)

  • Dial-up access - 14 hours/month: subscription F CFA 25,000 (US$ 39.52), F CFA 3,000 (US$ 4.74) per additional hour.
  • Dial-up access - 40 hours/month: subscription F CFA 50,000 (US$ 79.04), F CFA 2,000 (US$ 3.16) per additional hour.
  • Dial-up unlimited access: F CFA 70,000 (US$ 110.65)
