First Phase of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS),
10 - 12 December 2003, Geneva

The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) will be held in two phases. The first phase of WSIS will take place in Geneva hosted by the Government of Switzerland from 10 to 12 December 2003. The second phase will take place in Tunis hosted by the Government of Tunisia, in 2005.
The first phase of the Summit in Geneva plans to create a common vision and action plan on how to deal with the new challenges of the information society, specifically identifying ways to help bridge the digital divide. The second phase in Tunisia will reassess that plan and generate additional action if necessary.

These pages are created by the Development Information Services Division (DISD) of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), which is implementing the African Information Society Initiative (AISI). The aim is to continue providing the African stakeholders with information on the activities taking place during the first phase of the WSIS in Geneva. The highlight will be the daily media coverages targeting the African media.
