| APRM Peer Learning Workshop, February 20-21, 2007
A Training Workshop for African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Focal Points will be held on 20 and 21 February 2007, in the United Nations Conference Centre, Conference Room 5, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
ECA, as a Strategic Partner institution of the APRM, is organizing this Training Workshop, in collaboration with the APRM Secretariat based in Midrand, South Africa and the South Africa Institute for International Affairs (SAIIA). The training workshop will focus on the challenges and prospects for the APRM participating countries in the Central, Eastern and Southern Africa regions. A similar workshop was organized for the APRM participating countries from West Africa, in the aftermath of the NEPAD Multi-Stakeholder Consultations held in Abuja, 28 – 31 October 2006.
The main objective of the workshop is to facilitate dialogue between the APRM pioneer countries and other participating countries in order to share best practices and lessons learned from earlier experiences.
The participants of this workshop are the National APRM Focal Points and Senior Technical Advisors from the Ministries or National APRM Offices charged with the responsibility of APRM implementation at the national level. More than 50 participants are expected to participate in this training workshop.
The participants will have the opportunity to interact first-hand with key players from APRM pioneer countries, learn both best practices and lessons from those countries, begin formulating research and consultation plans, assess the budgetary implications for the process, strategize on public information and media strategies and receive a variety of materials that will assist in planning and budgeting for an effective and efficient APRM.
