Training Workshop on the Participation of the Civil Society in the APRM Process

A Training Workshop on the participation of the Civil Society Organization (CSO) in the process of African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) is taking place from 28 to 30 July 2008, at Hotel Massaley, Bamako , Mali .

Association du Sahel D'aide a la Femme et a L'enfance (ASSAFE) has organized this training workshop in collaboration with ECA, which is one of the Strategic Partner Institutions of the APRM, and Partnership Africa Canada (PAC).

The training workshop focuses on the challenges and prospects for the Western Africa APRM participating countries, by bringing together representatives of Civil Society organizations from countries namely Benin, Burkina Faso, Cap Verde, Côte d'Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal Sierra Leone and Togo, that have already signed-up for the APRM and those that are still prospecting.

The main objective of the training workshop is to facilitate dialogue among civil society representatives in those countries, gain a deeper understanding of their role in the APRM process and contribute effectively towards the implementation of APRM in their respective countries.
