Honourable Chairperson of AMCOW EXCO,
Honourable Ministers,
Dear Colleagues and Partners,
It is my pleasure to make a brief remark
on behalf of the African Development Bank.
I would like first to take the opportunity
to thank the Ethiopian government for hosting us here in Addis
Ababa; ECA, UNEP and AMCOW TAC for organizing this important gathering.
The Bank is your key partner in development
with vision that focus on over coming poverty. In this regard,
the Bank has major water initiatives to implement the AMCOW and
NEPAD objectives.
I would like to remind you of our recent
achievements:
· Paris Conference on RWSSI
· Completion of programme preparation of NEPAD engagement
in Johannesburg River
· African Water Facility:
- Establishment of office and appointment of director
- Mobilization of resources (54 million Euro)
- Convening of governing council on July 8
2005
The Bank is moving ahead with full force
to contribute to the objective of AMCOW. In this regard the Bank
is looking at how best to face this challenge and develop its
capacity to discharge this responsibility.
Honourable Minister,

work together closely with you.
Thank you for your attention.
