Training of the Subregional offices on the African Gender Development Index
05 February 2008 - The Economic Commission for Africa /African Center for Gender and Social Development (ACGSD) developed African Gender and Development Index (AGDI) within the framework of effective implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the international and regional platforms and plan of action on gender equality and women's advancement is designed as tool for African policy makers and their partners to monitor progress towards gender equality and women's advancement. The AGDI is piloted in 12 African countries and ACGSD is extending the AGDI to the remaining African countries.
To strengthen collaboration Training of sub regional offices on the African Gender development Index (AGDI) to more countries, a training workshop for the Subregional offices was organized in Addis Ababa , Ethiopia on 4-5 February 2008. The training aimed at introducing the GDI to the SROs Focal Points.
The trading sessions focused on: the concept of AGDI as a gender analysis tool; the structure of the AGDI process; AGDI as a macro-economic Planning, implementation and monitoring tool. |
