The ICT, Science and Technology Division (ISTD) is responsible for the Harnessing Information for Development work of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA).

ISTD is an integrated information service and resource center for Africa, making quality information on African development globally accessible and assisting ECA member States to build national capacities in the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) for accelerated and sustainable development.

Objective:

To strengthen the capacity for the development and the use of information and knowledge systems, such as spatial databases as support tools for decision-making and for socio-economic development at the local, national and sub-regional and regional levels.
