Empowering Journalists for building an Inclusive Information Society in Rwanda
Kigali
18 - 19 May 2006

A 2-day workshop was held for Journalists in Rwanda to create awareness and indepth understanding of the 2 phases of Rwanda's National Information and Communication Infrastracture (NICI). Held from 18-19 May 2006, in Kigali the workshop brought together approximately sixty participants who included government officials, MPs, youth and civil society groups. A Rwanda ICT4D media network was launched at the end of the workshop. The network's first short-term activity is a media campaign aimed at publicizing and popularizing ICT4D in relation to the second (implementation) stage of Rwanda's NICI process. Emphasis will also be placed on ICT usage in Rwanda and the efforts in place to upscale ICT as a tool for development.
