The Library, which moved to its present location in 1977, is housed on the three floors and two basement areas and has one of the most comprehensive collections of materials on economic and social development in Africa. The collections include the following:

• General collection – periodicals and journals, newspapers, atlases and other reference sources, CD-ROM and monograph collections;
  
  
• United Nations and UN Agency documents – United Nations official documents, ECA publications, World Bank and IMF publications and documents; and
  
  
• African Governmental and official publications and publication of international and intergovernmental organizations in Africa (e.g. Africa Union and the African Development Bank)
