with a strong call to speed up the pace of building a

14 November 2005 – About 11,000 participants from all
walks of life - including heads of states and governments,
representatives of the private/public sector and civil
society - are due to attend the second phase of the World
Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) which will take
place in Tunis from 16 to 18 November 2005. |

Experts
discuss technological solutions to enhance land administration

The Development Information Services Division (DISD) hosted
a one-day seminar on “End-to-End Cadastral Solutions for
Economic Development” on Friday, October 07, 2005 in the
UNCC. “Cadastre” is the technical term for the system
of maintaining public registers of interests in land,
to support land transactions and general land administration. |

Meeting
concludes with declaration on gender equality in the information
society

Gender activists and public sector representatives
known as “National machineries” adopted a
draft declaration that seeks to advance gender equality
in addressing the digital divide. The final declaration
will be presented at the forthcoming World Summit on the
Information Society (WSIS) to be held in Tunis, November
2005.

month to discuss an “Action Plan on Africa and the
