ICT Policies
AISI states that although African countries are equally placed to take advantage of ICTs to facilitate their socio-economic development processes, they cannot hope to move their industrually weak, subsistent and agriculture based economies towards information and knowledge based economies unless they develop and implement comprehensive and integrated ICT-led socio-economic development policies, strategies and plans.
Information & Knowledge Development
ECA has focused resources and expertise toward building the capacities of African policy makers, civil society, private sector and institutions through workshops, exhibition and training on the establishment and utilisation of information systems.
Partnership & Networking
The promotion of networking and information sharing with partners including UN substantive organs and agencies, the Partners for Information and Communication Technologies for Africa (PICTA), the United National ICT Task Force, all relevant digital opportunity initiatives, specialized institutions working in the field of information and communication technologies and regional economic communities, is a significance component of our work programme.
Outreach
The Outreach and Communication Programme entails a series of activities aimed at supporting the African Information Society Initiative goals, and it involves all societal actors in addressing the continent?s quest for an information society.
