African Technical Advisory Committee (ATAC)
Based on ECA resolution 812 (XXXI) ECA Executive Secretary Mr. K.Y. Amoako appoints an African Technical Advisory Committee (ATAC) within the institutional framework required for implementing the African Information Society Initiative (AISI).
ePolNet The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UN ECA), with support from the Government of Canada, has set up the African regional node to the ePol-NET, where the demand side of ICT for development in Africa will be coordinated. The regional node will also reach out to national and sub-regional centres of expertise in Africa on the supply side.
UN-ICT Task Force - African Stakeholders Network (ASN)
The African Stakeholders Network (ASN) has been launched to ensure that United Nations-efforts to bridge the digital divide in Africa are better co-ordinated, more inclusive and reflective of the significant efforts already underway to develop an African information society.
WSIS 2003
The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) will be held in two phases. The first phase of WSIS will take place in Geneva hosted by the Government of Switzerland from 10 to 12 December 2003. The second phase will take place in Tunis hosted by the Government of Tunisia, in 2005.
Connectivity Africa
Our initiative, which was announced at the G8 Kananaskis 2002 Summit aims to improve access to information and communication technologies (ICTs) in Africa by applying Canadian expertise especially in relation to education, health and community development.
Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP)
The Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP) Secretariat and the ECA collaborate in jointly organising regional ICT events in the framework of the AISI and the Partnership for ICTs in Africa (PICTA).
World Summit Award The World Summit Award (WSA) is a three year global project, held within the framework and in cooperation with the WSIS.
