Title of Event Africa Goes Digital
Description DISD has produced two video programmes in December 2004 to showcase successful examples of ICT for development activities in four selected African countries: Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Ghana. This video production constitutes part of the outreach activities of our division and was undertaken within the framework of the African Information Society Initiative (AISI). Supported by the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), video programmes, “Africa Goes Digital” and “The Challenges of ICT for Development” highlight challenges and opportunities of the Information Society in Africa, raise awareness on the importance and implications of ICT for Development issues on economic and social development and demonstrate successful examples and initiatives in the above countries with national ICT policies and plans as a coordinating framework. These video programmes were produced as a contribution to the commitments made by the African leaders to build an inclusive and balanced Information Society during the first World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) organized in Geneva in December 2003. The outcomes of the video production will be broadcast by TV stations throughout Africa.process. This programme was made possible with funding from the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ). It is produced by AVA Dateline Productions for ECA.
