Under the overall direction of the Chief, Economic and Social Policy Division, the Regional Adviser will:
- Provide short-term advisory services to member States son macro policy analysis at country, subregional and regional levels;
- Provide policy analysis advice and technical assistance, at country, subregional and regional levels, in the field of policy design and analysis, particularly with regard to the sequecing of policy measures;
- Undertake in-depth studies on the determinant of growth in Africa at the country, subregional and regional levels, with emphasis on policy implications;
- Undertake in-depth studies in policy areas pertaining to the incidence of public expenditure programmes, and adise member States accordingly;
- Undertake in-depth studies on issues pertaining to the mobilisation of domestic resources including the effect of alternative policies on the revenues structure of budget and advise member States accordingly;
- Participate in the base-line assessments of the economic and resource needs of countries in transition from conflict to normative development;
- Contribute to the formulation and implementation of ECA projects aiming at facilitating economic and social policy analysis on the continent;
- Contribute to the co-ordination of ECA's multi-sectoral and multi-disciplinary contributions to the operationalization of Country Strategy Notes (CSNs), National Long-term Plans (NLTPs) and Strategic Plans focusing tthe Commission's technical assistance and operational activities (e.g. seminars, training, workshops, etc.) and gearing them to the priorities of member States;
- Participate in the development of analytical models for socio-economic planning, analysis and projections; and contribute to capacity building in the area of the rigorous analysis of the problems relent to member States and subregional economic communities;
- Contribute to the authorship and drafting of major statements, occasional papers and project proposals for use by the Commission.
