Under the overall direction of the Chief, African Center for Women, the Regional Adviser will:
Advocate and assist African Governments to adopt national strategies to enhance women's participation in economic transformation and development through the formulation of coherent and comprehensive national gender policies;
Advise and sensitive African Governments on measures to remove socio-cultural and legal barriers on access of women to credit and property ownership;
Provide advisory services and technical assistance to women's economic groups and organizations and to women in business and women entrepreneurs with a view to enhancing and increasing the level of their economic activities for their overall advancement and contribution to the economies of their countries;
Provide advise and assist in seeking institutional support to measures to increase opportunities for entrepreneurship development of women, including strengthening networking arrangements among women entrepreneurs;
Adivise and assist in the formulation of policies and practical measures for increasing women's participation in decision-making positions in the public and private sector;
Provide governments, IGOs, NGOs and other relevant instituitions with advisory services and technical assistance in developing skills and strengthening institutional capacity for mainstreaming gender into development efforts;
Provide technical support and advisory services to member States in the development and application of selected gender-indicators for monitoring the advancement of women in Africa;
Assist in organizing training, seminars and workshops to increase awareness and stimulate ideas for the advancement of women in Africa.
