WA-SRDCThe West African SRDC is based in Niamey, Republic of Niger and has a membership of fifteen, namely: Burkina Faso, Benin, Cape-Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo. It is the only subregion that brings together three colonial heritages, namely, the English, French and Portuguese. The working languages are English and French

The subregion stretches from the southern fringes of the Sahara desert to the Atlantic Ocean along the Gulf of Guinea to Biafra and from the eastern shores of the Atlantic from Senegal to Lake Chad, and it is influenced by geographical conditions ranging from equatorial rain forests to a hot desert belt. Of the five Centres it is the only one to have such a variety of ecological conditions.
