The International Conference on Single Window (ICSW)

 

 

The International Conference on Single Window (ICSW) is being held between 8-9th June 2011 at Hotel Meridien President in Dakar, Senegal.

Importance of the theme : The Conference is meant to be a hub of exchange on the Single Window concept. It is aimed at gathering delegates from around the world, with contributions from countries boasting a solid experience on the matter, organisms promoting the establishment of Single Windows and international experts. The main objectives are the folloing:
· Exchange views on the Single Window concept;
· Increase awareness on the establishment of Single Windows at global level;
· Highlight the international standards sustaining Single Windows and cross border data exchanges;
· Disseminate relevant information and experiences at global level;
· Encourage the establishment of regional Single Windows ;
· Inform on the progress made in other regions of the Globe (Asia, Africa);
· Identify the implementation processes ;
· Set contacts between donors and project proponents (Single Window, paperless trade projects etc.) for funding.

Range of Participants attending : ATPC staff, Single Window Operators or SW project holders;Customs administrations; Ministries in charge of Transport and Commerce; Port authorities; Chambers of Commerce ; Private sector; International organizations such as IMO, ISO, UNCTAD, WCO, WB, WTO, UNECE and representatives of international institutions involved in trade facilitation; Participants in the ASEAL and UN/CEFACT Forum; Donors backing trade facilitation projects.

Expected Outcomes :
For the African region
· Adherence of new countries to the African Alliance for e-Commerce (AAEC);
· Promotion of peperless projects;
· Mobilization of donors to back trade facilitation projects in Africa.

For all regions
· Step up the interest of African governments and private sector in the SW concept with the view to facilitating the implementation at national level;
· Promote regional and inter-regional cooperation;
· Inititiate projects for international exchanges of trade-related documents and data.
