Workshop/Roundtable on Aid for Trade in preparation for the 3rd Global Aid for Trade Review

 

 

Theme or title of the event : Workshop/Roundtable on Aid for Trade in preparation for the 3rd Global Aid for Trade Review which will focus on assessing the impact of aid for trade on economic growth, creation of trade and poverty reduction.

Objective/Importance of the meeting : The objective of this retreat is to bring together the experts based in Member State Capitals and the Geneva-based African trade negotiators with the aim to analyse two papers prepared by UNECA for the Global Aid for Trade review.

Where it will take place : Geneva, Switzerland in Room XVIII at the Palais des Nations.

Dates : 21 June 2011 (one day)

Range and number of participants attending : Approximately 100 delegates, members of the African group (Geneva and Capital based experts), plus resource persons of partner organisations, will take part in this meeting.

Expected outcomes: The conclusions/recommendations resulting from the workshop will be used as the African Group position to the Committee of Trade and Development to be held in 23 and 24 June 2011 and the Third Global Review of Aid for Trade will take place from 18 to 19 July 2011.
