Major Activities for 1999
  • Organising plenary and/or expert group meetings including for subregional committees of experts of the five sub regional development centres. (1999)
  • Organising Ad hoc expert group meetings dealing with tapping the private sector resources, market forces and international capital to accelerate African economic integration, aimed at senior national policy makers and senior executives of the regional economic communities, African and outside investors and other economic operators in the regions, (1998); Liberalization of trade and factor mobility within Africa and promotion of the emergence of complementaries as a basis for the expansion of intra-African trade. This is also targeted at to the same people, but also includes chambers of commerce as well as other international trade operators of the region and experts from regional and international trade organisations.   • International Cooperation and Inter-agency coordination and liaison: in particular contributing to the implementation of selected programmes related to the respective sub regions, including servicing ad hoc meetings of the chief executives of the African copper and aluminum industries.
  • Technical Cooperation: Holding regional seminars and working towards strengthening the institutional framework for regional cooperation in the sustainable development of Africa’s mineral resources for sustained economic growth. (1999)
