advises North Africa on the impact of phasing-out of Multi-Fibre Agreement

The
Trade and Regional Integration Division of the Economic Commission for Africa
organized an expert group meeting to discuss the impact of the phasing-out of
the multi-fibre agreement on the economies of North African countries. The meeting,
held in Tunisia on 14 – 15 February, was organized in collaboration with
the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA) and ECA's sub-regional office in North Africa.
TRID presented two papers at the meeting, titled: Le
Doha Round entre Promesses, Désillusion et Résignation; and
the
impact of the phasing out of the multi-fibre agreement on the economies of North
African countries. The meeting attracted considerable press attention, and
some clips and photos are attached.
