The African Trade Policy Centre of the Economic Commisison for Africa has released two more documents in its Work in Progress Series, one in English and the other in French. The English paper is: "Trade Preferences and Africa: The State of Play and the Issues at Stake", by Andrew Mold. This paper surveys the range of trade preferences available to African countries, their impacts, and suggests ways of improving their effectiveness. The second paper: "Doha Round entre promesses, desillusions et resignations", by Hakim Ben Hammouda. This paper provides the African perspective on the current round of World Trade Organization (WTO) talks, dubbed the Doha Development Agenda. Specifically, it charts events from the collapse of the Cancun WTO Ministerial talks in 2003, to the adoption of the July Package a year later.
