ECA and Doha International Financing 4 Development Conference Update: Day 3
UN Under Secretary General and Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa, Abdoulie Janneh, made presentations at two side events on the third day of the of Follow-up International Conference on Financing for Development to Review the Implementation of the Monterrey Consensus in Doha.
The highlight was a special side event on "Global Economic and Financial Crisis: African Perspectives and the Way Forward”, organised by ECA, the African Union Commission (AUC), and the African Development Bank (AfDB). Presentations at this event were also made by Dr. Jean Ping, the Chairperson of the AUC and Mr. Donald Kaberuka, President of the AfDB. Former UN Secretary General Mr. Kofi Annan also addressed the meeting through video conference. The Executive Secretary spoke at this event on the "Monterrey Consensus and Development Finance in Africa”.
Earlier, on the morning of 1 December, the Executive Secretary also made spoke at a meeting organised by the African Business Roundtable and NEPAD Business Group on the issue of "Mobilizing Private Capital Flows to Africa”.
