African Statisticians Adopt the Robben Island Declaration

Addis Ababa, 03 October 2011 (ECA) -An expert group meeting on the Compendium of Intra-African and Related Foreign Trade Statistics will be held from 5 to 7 October 2011 at Africa Hall in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The meeting will gather about 30 merchandise trade statistics experts from some ECA member States, regional economic communities, regional organizations as well as international organizations.
Implementation of 2008 System of National Accounts expected to get underway after Seminar of experts

Addis Ababa, 07 April 2011 (ECA) - Preparations are underway for the next week’s seminar on the implementation of the 2008 System of National Accounts, which will be held on 11-15 April 2011 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Addis-Ababa.  Organized by the African Centre for Statistics (ACS), in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD),  the Seminar will address the implementation strategy of the SNA adopted in 2008, which according to the organizers, has seen very limited implementation in Africa.

Addis Ababa, 23 March 2011 (ECA) -An Ad-hoc Experts’ Group Meeting to validate the 2011 edition of the joint African Statistical Yearbook (ASYB 2011) was held at the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC) from 20 to 22 March 2011. The Yearbook is the work of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the African Union Commission (AUC).
