Main Science and Technology Indicators is OECD's bilingual publication
that appears twice a year and provides a timely selection of the most
frequently used indicators on the scientific and technological performance
of the OECD Member countries. Of the 89 indicators, 70 cover resources
devoted to R&D and 19 are measures of output and the impact on
S&T activities (patents, technology balance of payments, trade
in high-technology industries). It includes final and provisional
results as well as government forecasts and methodological notes.

OECD's Basic
Science and Technology Statistics, gives fuller, more detailed

The World
Bank African Development Indicators and World Bank Africa Database
2000 on CD-ROM provide the most detailed collection of data on
Africa available in one volume. It presents data from 53 African countries,
arranged in 300 separate tables or matrices for more than 350 indicators
of development. More than 20 graphs assist in interpreting the data.

The World
Bank's database of "competitiveness" indicators is a
collection of 49 indicators, including scientific and technological
data, to quickly assess economic performance and the environment for
competitive business development in a large number of countries.

| World Telecommunications
Database |
The International Telecommunications
Union (ITU) publishes the World
Telecommunications Database, which contains time series data for
the years 1960, 1965, 1970 and annually from 1975-1998 for around
100 communications statistics covering telephone network size and
dimension, mobile services, quality of service, traffic, staff, tariffs,
revenue and investment. Selected demographic, macro-economic, broadcasting
and information technology statistics are also included. Data for
over 200 economies are available.
