Science & Technology Centers Annual Conference (SAASTEC) took
place during 16 - 18 November 2000 at the University of Pretoria.
The theme of the conference was `The impact of Science Centres on
Southern Africa'.

The World Conference on Science 1999 on the topic of "Science
for the Twenty-First Century: A New Commitment" took place on
26 June - 1 July 1999 in Budapest and proved to be a milestone in
international discussion towards a new ‘social contract’
for science as we enter the twenty-first century.

BAMAKO 2000 was an international meeting organised by the ANAIS
network and held in the Malian Capital from February 21 to 26, 2000.
The meeting aimed to lay the operational basis for an equitable and
true international information society and list essential activities
that participants thought necessary to undertake without delay.
