Prof. Adebayo Olukoshi [2009 – Present]

Prof. Adebayo Olukoshi was appointed by the Governing Council as Director of the African Institute for Economic Development and Planning in May 2009. Prof. Olukoshi has previously served as Executive Secretary of the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) in Dakar, Senegal from 2001 to 2009; Senior Programme Officer/Research Programme Coordinator at the Nordic Africa Institute (NAI), Senior Programme Staff of the South Centre, and Director of Research at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA). Since April 2010, he has also been the interim Executive Director of the Dakar-based African Governance Institute (AGI), a joint institutional resource of the AUC, AfDB, UNDP & the ECA.

Prof. Olukoshi’s interests centre on the political economy of development. Prof. Olukoshi has been editor, contributor and member of editorial boards for numerous scientific journals and has published widely on politics and development in Africa. He holds a first degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria and a PhD in politics from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom.
