Achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDG)

Geoinformation technology offers a database system to organize, store and display data in harmonized format to facilitate data sharing among various agencies within a country, in order to monitor social development.
An MDG Mapping tool is being developed to enable at-a-glance visualization of the status of countries with regards to meeting the MDG targets.

With this tool (see http://geoinfo.uneca.org/mdg/), one can navigate through the MDG Goals, Targets and over 80 indicators and generate maps dynamically showing the implementation status of countries at a base year, the most recent reference year for which data is available, estimated values for 2015, and hence off-target estimates at 2015. The tool provides options to save images of the maps for possible insertion in documents.
