The Library which moved to its present location in 1977, is housed on the three floors and two basement areas and has one of the most comprehensive collections of materials on economic and social development in Africa. The collections include the following:
General collection – periodicals and journals, newspapers, atlases and other reference sources, CD-ROM and monograph collections;
E-Resources collection – Over 35 premium full-text online databases which provide access to over 40,000 e-journals, e-books and statistical databases, as well as a host of open source and other-freely available online resources that have been professionally selected by the Library reference team.
United Nations and UN Agency documents – United Nations official documents, ECA publications, World Bank and IMF publications and documents; and
African Government Publications collection – Official publications of African Governments (Central Banks, Statistical Offices, Annual Reports, etc.) and of intergovernmental organizations in Africa (e.g. Africa Union and the African Development Bank.
