United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA)

ECA is the regional arm of the United Nations, mandated to support the economic and social development of its 53 member States, foster regional integration, and promote international cooperation for Africa’s development. Established in 1958 and based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, ECA is one of five regional economic commissions under the administrative direction of the UN Headquarters. It reports directly to the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) through the Conference of African Ministers Responsible for Economic and Social Development and Planning, and convenes a number of intergovernmental organs and committees. The Commission has a staff of some 850, comprising professionals with a wide range of expertise, as well as general support and field service.

Cisco Networking Academy Program

The Cisco Networking Academy Program is a partnership between Cisco Systems, education, business, government, and community organizations around the world. The Networking Academy curriculum centers on teaching students to design, build, and maintain computer networks. The Program prepares students for the 21st Century workplace, while serving as a valuable model for e-learning.

The Information for Development Program (InfoDev)

The Information for Development Program (infoDev) is a global program managed by the World Bank to help developing economies fully benefit from modern information systems.

infoDev: shares worldwide experience with, and disseminates best practices to, governments and key decision-makers, both public and private, on the economic development potential of communications and information systems;

infoDev: channels policy advice and other technical assistance to governments in developing economies on privatization, private entry and competition in the communications and information sectors, and on improving the policy, regulatory and business environment for investment;

infoDev: conducts feasibility and pre-investment studies, and prepares experimental applications in communications and information systems.
