The African Youth Foundation (AYF) is a non-profit development organisation based in Germany. Youth and Good Governance

The aim of this website is to stimulate a dialogue on governance issues among youth by emphasizing the role they can play in demanding accountability from their government.

Youth Networks and Governance

Through the Youth Networks and Governance (YNG) programme, CYP works to ensure that young people exercise their right to be involved in developing and implementing public policy. Our goal is to create and strengthen networks of young people, which they will use to influence decision-making processes and bring about change in governance in their countries.

African Youth Hosted by Inter-Region Economic Network

In late March, members of the African Youth Parliament from 42 countries converged here in Nairobi, Kenya to discuss a wide range of issues including: proper governance, HIV/AIDS, conflict resolution, poverty and education.

World Youth Report 2003: The global situation of young people

The World Youth Report 2003 provides an overview of the global situation of young people. The first 10 chapters focus on the priority areas identified by the World Programme of Action for Youth (WPAY) , adopted by the General Assembly in 1995. The remaining five chapters address some of the newer issues that were later identified as additional priorities for youth and were adopted by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in 2003.

The BDT Youth Programme

The third ITU World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-02), held in March 2002 in Istanbul-Turkey, established The Youth Initiative in the framework of Special Initiatives and in accordance with Resolution 38, instructed the Director of Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT):
· to seek appropriate means of integrating youth issues into the activities of BDT;
· to include into the activities of BDT, youth programmes with emphasis on capacity building;
· to create initiatives of follow-up youth support for the development of ICT capacities of youth.

African Regional Youth Initiative

The African Regional Youth Initiative (ARYI) is a collaboration of hundreds of youth and community-based projects and organizations in Africa working to fight HIV/AIDS. ARYI addresses HIV/AIDS in a comprehensive manner by engaging in activities that mobilize and empower communities, increase participation of women and youth, facilitate dialogue between organizations in different countries and other activities that build capacity such as training in policy and advocacy.
