The African Youth Foundation (AYF) is
a non-profit development organisation based in Germany.
AYF was established in 2000 to aid young people in Africa,
as well as African Nationals abroad and Europeans with
African descent, to undertake projects which will enable
them obtain skills necessary for their future livelihoods.

AYP is an initiative by the youth for
the youth and in it African Youth voices can be heard
crying aloud for alleviation of poverty, an end to social
and armed conflict, clear policies dealing with the HIV/AIDS
pandemic and a call for responsible leadership and good
governance

The aim of this website is to stimulate
a dialogue on governance issues among youth by emphasizing
the role they can play in demanding accountability from
their government.

Networks and Governance
Through the Youth Networks and Governance
(YNG) programme, CYP works to ensure that young people
exercise their right to be involved in developing and
implementing public policy. Our goal is to create and
strengthen networks of young people, which they will use
to influence decision-making processes and bring about
change in governance in their countries.
African
Youth Hosted by Inter-Region Economic Network
In late March, members of the African
Youth Parliament from 42 countries converged here in Nairobi,
Kenya to discuss a wide range of issues including: proper
governance, HIV/AIDS, conflict resolution, poverty and
education.
World
Youth Report 2003: The global situation of young people
The World Youth Report 2003 provides an
overview of the global situation of young people. The
first 10 chapters focus on the priority areas identified
by the World Programme of Action for Youth (WPAY) , adopted
by the General Assembly in 1995. The remaining five chapters
address some of the newer issues that were later identified
as additional priorities for youth and were adopted by
the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)
in 2003.

Commitments Matter: A toolkit for young people to evaluate
national youth policy
This Toolkit is meant for national youth
organizations and/or representatives working with youth.
It can be used as a tool to: assess your country's progress
in reaching the WPAY goals, prioritize your organization's
work, based on your findings and Initiate actions at the
national level.

The American Friends Service Committee
(AFSC) Africa youth program is a segment of the AFSC's
work on Africa that seeks to engage and mobilize young
people to contribute towards the vision and goals of its
Africa Initiative plan.

Network of Young Peace-builders
Positive Africa's mission is to impulse
the broadcasting of objective information for the promotion
of a better image of Africa and effectively combating
the root causes of poverty in the continent. It aims to
build a continent which reposes on the value of good governance,
the respect of human rights and duties, inter-communal
dialogue and humanism. Our action group of research puts
emphasis on the study and analysis of world and continental
strategies for the economic, cultural and social development.

BDT Youth Programme
The third ITU World Telecommunication
Development Conference (WTDC-02), held in March 2002 in
Istanbul-Turkey, established The Youth Initiative in the
framework of Special Initiatives and in accordance with
Resolution 38, instructed the Director of Telecommunication
Development Bureau (BDT):
· to seek appropriate means of integrating youth
issues into the activities of BDT;
· to include into the activities of BDT, youth
programmes with emphasis on capacity building;
· to create initiatives of follow-up youth support
for the development of ICT capacities of youth.

Youth and Good Governance
The World Bank Group's mission is to fight
poverty and improve the living standards of people in
the developing world. It is a development Bank which provides
loans, policy advice, technical assistance and knowledge
sharing services to low and middle income countries to
reduce poverty.
African
Regional Youth Initiative
The African Regional Youth Initiative
(ARYI) is a collaboration of hundreds of youth and community-based
projects and organizations in Africa working to fight
HIV/AIDS. ARYI addresses HIV/AIDS in a comprehensive manner
by engaging in activities that mobilize and empower communities,
increase participation of women and youth, facilitate
dialogue between organizations in different countries
and other activities that build capacity such as training
in policy and advocacy. |
