Description of requirements:
UNECA hereby seeks to pre-qualify a suitable contractor capable to provide service for effective operation and maintenance of all electromechanical equipment, machines and other related systems in the compound, which will result in smooth and uninterrupted operation of the installations. The electromechanical services will incorporate HVAC, hot and cold water, fire fighting system, sanitary and storm drainage system, plumbing fixtures, electrical panels and switch gears, generator sets, UPS etc. Only pre-qualified firms may be invited to the tender by “Request for Proposal” (RFP). This tender envisages selection of a single firm to undertake the contract.
Please note that the UNECA is precluded from entering into contract with a firm that is not fully registered with UNECA. Those interested in responding to this invitation but not currently fully registered as vendors with UNECA, are encouraged to register before submission of the RFP. GENERAL INFORMATION
Premises, Description and Location
The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) complex is located at Menilik Avenue , at Addis Ababa , Ethiopia . It consists of seven main buildings, spread over an area of 11.05 hectares. Apart from UNECA, the complex also accommodates 14 UN Agencies, some 3000 persons (staff members, consultants, contractors, etc) and receives a large number of visitors as well. For example, 99,306 visitors were received in the years 2005-2006. The United Nations Conference Center in Addis Ababa (UNCC-AA), one of a few complex conference centers in the country, hosts 55,000 VIPs including Heads of State and Government and Ministers in the years 2005-2006.
SERVICES REQUIRED
The contractor must have the capacity to provide the following services:
• Mechanical Operation, preventive and corrective maintenance and minor alterations and repairs
• Electrical operation, preventive and corrective maintenance and minor alterations and repairs
Major activities of the mechanical operation are in connection with the operation, inspection, maintenance and minor alteration, repairs and servicing of all mechanical installations in the Secretariat Building as well as its related auxiliary buildings including Africa Hall, the residence of the Executive Secretary and the United nations Conference Center (UNCDC at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (detail activities are listed in the RFP).
Major activities of the electrical operation are in connection with the operation, inspection, maintenance and minor alteration, repairs and servicing of all electrical installations in the Secretariat Building including Africa Hall, the residence of the Executive Secretary as well as related auxiliary building of the Economic Commission for Africa but, excluding the United Nations Conference Center (UNCC at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (detail activities are listed in the RFP).
