Description of requirements:

United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) intends to repair and maintain the 6,000 sq mts of United Nations Conference Center (UNCC) Roof Water Proofing.  Therefore, UNECA hereby seeks a suitable contractor capable to undertake a study on the causes of failure, point out remedies to be considered in the future, and propose the new water proofing material and methodology with a minimum 15 years of manufacturer’s warranty period . In order to do a comprehensive maintenance to the water proofing system it needs a specialist consultancy service to undertake the study.  The tender document, Request for Proposal (RFP) will be collected from the Bid Officer, General Services Section, Room 2N11, the UNECA Secretariat Building.  This tender envisages selection of a single firm to undertake the contract. 

Please note that the UNECA is precluded from entering into contract with a firm that is not fully registered with UNECA.  Those interested in responding to this invitation but not currently fully registered as vendors with UNECA, are encouraged to register before submission of their offer.  Registration Form and “Vendor Response Form” could be downloaded from www.uneca.org/procurement or similar documents could also be collected from the UNECA, General Services Section, 2nd floor, Room no. 2N11.  Kindly complete the Forms.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Premises, Description and Location
The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) complex is located at Menilik Avenue, at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  It consists of seven main buildings, spread over an area of 11.05 hectares.  Apart from UNECA, the complex also accommodates 14 UN Agencies, some 3000 persons (staff members, consultants, contractors, etc) and receives a large number of visitors as well.  For example, 99,306 visitors were received in the years 2007-2008. The United Nations Conference Center in Addis Ababa (UNCC-AA), one of a few complex conference centers in the country, hosts 55,000 VIPs including Heads of State and Government and Ministers in the years 2007-2008.
SERVICES REQUIRED

The contractor must have the capacity to undertake the study on the repair and maintenance of roof water proofing systems, which was installed originally some 12 years ago, of the United Nations Conference Center (UNCC), Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  The contractor shall be required to provide the consultancy services using his/her staff, use his/her equipment and materials.
