Programme Overview

Areas of Work

TFED is a newly structured Division. The work of TFED focuses on issues relating to macroeconomic analysis, including monitoring of macroeconomic trends and macro-micro linkages. It also deals with international trade, international trade negotiations development, finance and financial sector policies, debt, aid, investment, and industrial policies.

Expected Accomplishments

•  Improved capacity of African countries to participate effectively in bilateral and multilateral trade negotiations

•  Strengthened national capacity for policymaking in the areas of trade for development and regional integration

•  Improved capacity of member States to design and implement sound policies and programmes for achieving higher growth and poverty reduction.

•  Support to member states regarding the challenges and prospects of development finance to achieve sustained growth and poverty reduction in Africa.
