Access to UNCC-AA

With the introduction of security restrictions under the Headquarters Minimum Operating Security Standards (H-MOSS) in recent years, access to United Nations Conference Center at Addis Ababa (UNCC-AA) to hold meetings on charge back basis, had been limited to United Nations entities and bone fide non-UN institutions such as accredited Embassies, the Government of Ethiopia, the African Union Commission and internationally-recognized Non Governmental Organisations, as well as national professional associations and reputable corporations. The use of UNCC by non-UN institution is considered based on availability and after a security assessment on a case-by-case basis.

It is essential that strict security measures are maintained to avoid potentially uncontrollable situations.

In view of the above and in compliance with H-MOSS, the UNECA will not allow the following Organisations to hold their meetings in the UN premises:

•  Political Organisations

•  Religious Organizations

•  Ethnic-based Organisations

•  Student related activities

The Chief, Security and Safety Service shall ensure the strict and smooth implementation of the new security measures.
