Objectives

Objectives of the sub-clusters:

UN Energy/Africa: To promote coherence, effectiveness and synergy in the UN and other major non-UN organizations’ multi-disciplinary response to WSSD/JPOI energy sector development objectives for Africa, and provide efficient support to the implementation of the NEPAD energy agenda.

ICTs: The main objectives of the sub cluster as related to the NEPAD main goals are to narrow the digital divide by participating in the implementation of the NEPAD Short Term Action Plan (STAP) on Infrastructure.

Transport: Assist in the implementation of the Sub Saharan Africa Transport Policy Programme (SSATP); and assist in the liberalization of access to air transport markets in Africa in accordance with the Yamoussoukro Decision.

Water and Sanitation: Operationalize the Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) principles that emanated from the African Water Vision 2025 and assist basin development initiatives. .
