The implementation of the 2008 System of National Accounts (2008 SNA) is a global statistical initiative that provides an opportunity to improve the quality, availability, consistency, and harmonization of economic statistics and national accounts. In Africa, there is a need to create synergies at all the levels of the African statistical system in order to address the technical, financial, and institutional challenges countries encounter when collection and processing economic statistics needed to compile their national accounts.
Yamoussoukro, Republic of Côte d’Ivoire - Ministers from African countries have agreed to launch a Decade of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS), covering 2015 to 2024, with the goal of “leaving no child out” and “no country behind” in the effort to register all births and vital events in Africa.
Yamoussoukro, 11 February 2015 (AUC-ECA) –Discussions at the three-day Experts meeting that started on Monday 9 to Wednesday 11 February 2015, focussed on the reinforcement of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) for the promotion of governance in Africa. The experts meeting which took place at the Houphouet Boigny Foundation Conference Center in Yammoussoukro, Cote d’Ivoire, was chaired by Mr.
Yamoussoukro, 9 February 2015 (ECA–AUC) - The Experts meeting that kicked off today 9 February 2015 at the Fondation Houphouet-Boigny pour la recherche et la Paix in Yamoussoukro, Republic of Cote d’Ivoire, will focus on the theme: “ Promoting the use of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in support of Good Governance in Africa”, ahead of the Conference of African Ministers responsible for civil registration scheduled for Thursday 12 February 2015.
