The ECA Office for North Africa will hold, on 30-31 October 2018 in Tunis (Tunisia) an Expert Group Meeting under the theme: Data revolution in North Africa: using data in support of structural transformation.
This event will take place back to back with the Office’s 33rd Intergovernmental Committee of Experts. Participants will examine North Africa’s data ecosystem to help member countries acquire the economic and social data needed to achieve economic transformation and implement both Agenda 2030 and Agenda 2063.
Participants will examine and validate a study report on the evaluation of the data ecosystem in North Africa, the needs for data infrastructures and their implications for protocols surrounding data production, analysis, confidentiality and ethics in North Africa. They will also analyse the new data needs for the follow up of SDG and Agenda 2063 implementation and the role of new technologies in data collection, analysis, sharing and dissemination.
This meeting will be an opportunity for North African experts to share best practices and innovations. The study on Data revolution in North Africa will be finalized on the basis of the meeting results and experts’ recommendations.
