Thursday, November 26, 2015
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
The inaugural LPI/FAO Project Steering Committee (PSC) will be held on 26 November 2015 in the morning, The establishment of the PSC follows the signing of the ECA/FAO MOU in July 2014, which defines areas of cooperation and modalities for building synergies and enhancing coordination in the area of land policy and governance. A project was established in this regard, seconding two FAO staff members to the LPI/ECA. The inaugural PSC will draw in the members of the LPI Steering Committee as well as observers drawn from donors who support the project to examine and endorse its Terms of Reference in the November inaugural meeting. The PSC will then examine progress in implementing the 2015 work plans, developed mainly to enhance synergies between the application of the AU Framework and Guidelines on Land Policy (F&G) and the Voluntary Guidelines in the Responsible Governance of the Tenure of Land Fisheries and Forests (VGGT) in Africa. An update of progress made in implementing a 10-country pilot project on land governance in Africa with support of the EU, GIZ, SDC and other donors will also be presented to the PSC for input and guidance, especially in addressing emerging issues and challenges.
