The Government of Niger and the United Nations System (SNU), through the Subregional Office for West Africa of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), under the framework of the United Nations Flagship Programmes, are organizing a Validation Workshop on Strengthening Domestic Resource Mobilization in Niger on 11 May 2026 in Niamey.
The workshop will provide a platform for stakeholders to review and validate two key reports related to Domestic resource mobilization strategy in Niger :
- The assessment of tax policies and administration in Niger
- The priority recommendations and reform measures aimed at enhancing domestic resource mobilization
The main objective of the workshop is to validate the diagnostic assessment on domestic resource mobilization and to build consensus on a set of reforms, roadmap and priority measures to be implemented under a Priority Action Plan (PAP), including their implementation modalities.
The workshop aims to:
- Review and validate the key findings of the domestic resource mobilization diagnostic.
- Examine, enrich, and endorse the proposed recommendations and reform measures.
- Agree on a roadmap and appropriate sequencing for the implementation of priority reforms and measures across the short, medium and long term.
- Identify next steps and technical assistance needs to support effective implementation.
The workshop is expected to result in a validated set of recommendations and a clear, actionable roadmap/strategy to strengthen domestic resource mobilization in Niger, supported by stakeholder consensus.
