Objectives
The overarching objective of this side event is to elevate women’s economic inclusion as a core macroeconomic and fiscal priority, using Africa-led evidence to inform finance ministers’ policy choices during Women’s Month 2026 by:
- Positioning AWII and AGDI, including other ECA’s and ACET’s analytical work as complementary, living policy tools for Ministers of Finance, translating evidence from both indices into actionable reforms that inform budgets, national development plans, and AU reporting processes.
- Strengthening cross-government policy coordination across finance, gender, economic planning, trade, and digital portfolios to address the structural barriers limiting women’s economic inclusion.
- Support accountability and peer learning at the ministerial level, enabling reflection on progress, gaps, and practical implementation challenges in translating gender commitments into economic outcomes.
